Electrosingersongwriterpop! That the unique style of the Dutch composer/producer/artist Alan Lauris. Catching, melodic, sometimes touching, often funny popsongs with jazzy, electronic and classic influences.

Alan is a classical trained pianist and wrote his first song in 1987. In the 1990’s he wrote the score for several musicals ans was half of the comedyduo ‘Alias the same’. They made 3 albums.

After a few EP’s, in 2006 Alan Lauris' first solo-album: 'Connect Me' was released on his own ‘Canan Island’ label. Many songs on this album are written together with the English lyricist John Coughlan. Alan and John won seceral songwritingprices together. In the 2009 his second album ‘Different Frequency’ was released.

Alan is also composer and/or producer for other artists.

While primary a recording-artist, he also plays live-gigs. Sometimes alone behind a grandpiano, somtimes with an electronic setup with videoprojections and animations, many of them made by Maaike Nijholt.

Alan is an educated Urban Planner. He wrote several songs about subjects regarding Urban Planning and plays them live on conferences.
  Chronology
2012 25 years since the first recording, 20 years since the first almbum with Alias the same, and 10 years since the first Alan Lauris solo release! Alan writes a song about beauty and architecture, called 'building beauty'. All songs about music and urban planning are now on a dedicated part of the website. Working on songs for the EP The Quest part 3.
2011 Alan's daughter Yfke was born on july 27th. For her he wrote the song 'Plotseling was jij daar'. The Lauris & Verberne album 'Vrolijheid!' was released in september. It got very good critics in the Netherlands, and was played on national radiostations.
2010 Alan records the song 'Eddy', about Dutch legend Eddy Christiani, whom he met in 2007. It was released on a single. Recording songs in Dutch for an album with Singer Rion Verberne. They call themselves 'Lauris & Verberne'.
2009 New album 'Different Frequency' is released, inluding a digital EXTRAS bonus album. Worked with Elite Marriott on a song called 'We lived the dream'. It is released as a single; Elite and Alan call themselves 'London-Utrecht'.
2008 Alan plays several gigs playing the songs of the 'Dutch cities'-single. Remix of the Beef-song 'The original'. Picks up writing songs in Dutch with Rion Verberne again.
2007 On june 22nd, Alan plays a one night only-show with songs from 'Connect Me but also new songs that will appear on his next album.
2006 Release of first full album "Connect me", for the live presentation new versions of the songs were made. Collaborations with Isaac Angel and Neiwon. Several Livegigs. Release of the single 'Dutch Cities'.
2005 Continued working on the album ''Connect me''. Produces a mix for the Mizza song 'I am'. Wins several songwritingprizes.
2004 Recorded songs with lyrics from John and the single CD 'Wet kisses'; Worked with Mars Hendrix on a website dedicated to the Alias The Same-song 'De Hand', for which he makes two new versions of the song.
2003 Appeared in Dutch radioprogrammes with the Anti-warsong 'Niet meer ellende'; Recorded and released the EP 'The Quest part two' and got this website; Met lyricist John Coughlan from England;
2002 ATS (see 1988) record their third album 'Sterkte'. Later that year, Franke moved to Chicago, America, thus ending the tight ATS-collaboration. Alan records and releases the EP 'The Quest part one', the first solo project;
2000 Started to record solo-work as Alan Lauris; Recorded a CD with the songs of the musical 'Wees'. (changing the good old ATARI for a PC with Audio recording possibilities); Wrote, recorded and performed songs with Rion Verberne;
1998 'Zit wat in' is released in 1998. Alan reveived degree in Urban planning on the University of Amsterdam and started working with the Dutch Ministry of Transport, Public works and Water management in Utrecht;
1997 ATS record their second Album 'Zit wat in';

1996 Alan writes songs with several Dutch lyricists & record several demos; earnes a degree in urban planning in Utrecht.
1995 Premiere of the musical 'Wees!'. ATS write songs for and appear in a revue for the 50th anniversary of the liberation in the Netherlands;
1994 ATS start working on the musical 'Wees!' and appear on the CD 'Harlingen mien Stadsje part 2';
1993 ATS write the musical 'School on the move' and appear on the CD 'Harlingen mien stadsje' with other artists of the Harlingen-music scene, lots of performances there; They also appear as Draculas in another musical.
1992 Premiere of 'Disco'; ATS record their first album 'Tussen hemel en Aarde'; Alan moves to Utrecht, the Netherlands to study Urban planning;
1991 ATS write the schoolmusical 'Disco';
1988 Alan and Franke call themselves 'Alias the same' (ATS) and start writing comedy-popsongs with help of Alan's new ATARI computer

1987 The first recordings!
1986 At school, he met Franke Zijlstra, also a pianoplayer, with which he started making music together; first own compositions;

1985 Moved to Harlingen, the Netherlands;
